We prefer to use single stage paints in our restorations. This means paint that goes on only with color in it, no clear coat. The factory’s did not have clear coat back in the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, etc.. It is much easier to paint with clear coat, but we don’t use it. We try to stay as correct as possible in all aspects of restoration.
Powder coat is also INCORRECT to use in vintage restoration. The factory’s did not have this process to use either
